I have this habit where I always plan an outfit around the shoes and accessories I want to wear. Any stylist, fashionista, etc… will tell you that this contradicts (and fails) to abide by the cardinal rule that accessories should be used as an embellishment, not a statement.
Last season Prada’s spring Ready To Wear show featured a line of platform heels that were simple, yet elegant and could dress up the most casual of outfits. If you’re not living under a rock you would know that Prada is pricey, especially for a college student who attends one of the most expensive universities in the country (let us all #RaiseHigh). This being said, I made it my mission to find a pair of platform heels that weren’t 90’s grunge or expensive, but also fit the Prada style.
As an intern this past summer, I would have bouts of free time to leisurely explore the internet. I randomly came across Top Shop’s shoe site in which I found these platform heels. They were exactly what I was looking for, and the patent leather blush pink detailing proved the ultimate icing on the cake.
Here, I’ve paired my favorite high-low dress with a cargo jacket to beat October’s autumn chill. This is a simple outfit with muted tones, but the accessories (more specifically this brooch #VChanel) create a little “oomf” for a leisurely fall day in any city.
