Blacked Out in the City of Light

Paris – it’s the fashion capital of the world that many consider to the most beautiful city that’s ever been built. Being from New York , I had always disagreed with these particular testaments – nothing was better than my home city.  But after living her for almost two months (time flies!), I admit that I too have fallen in love with Paris – a city influenced by the most fantastic of trends and fashion laws.  The people walking the unorganized streets look as if they just stepped out of a catalog as they go about their day with a sense of ease, grace, and sophistication.

With inspiration pouring out from every corner, I let Paris vamp my wardrobe to something a little more local.  As much as I love being an American, it’s nice to feel – and dress – like a local through something as simple as clothes.  But don’t be fooled, Parisian fashion is anything but simple.

Below I’ve paired one of my favorite skirts with a black fitted turtleneck.  I top off the standard outfit with a Parsian-style cape – a garment I’ve grown to love with Fall arriving quite sooner than back in the states.  The piece is elegant, sophisticated, and carries so much style in such a simple shape that compliments any body type.  With an exorbitant amount of black, the outfit quietly blends into the fantastically stylish Parisian backdrop.
